Philippos Spyropoulos is Professor of the Law School of the National University of Athens.

In 1974 he graduated from the Law School of Athens and in 1978 he got the LL.M. from the L.S.E. of the University of London and a year later the Dr. from the University of Freiburg.

He is Professor of Constitutional Law at the Law School of Athens University and a member of the Bar Association of Athens. Between 1981 and 1983 he served in the Legal Office of the Presidency of the Republic and later as Secretary General of the Ministry of the Presidency (1989) and the Ministry of Justice (1990-1992). In 1993 he took over – for a brief period – the presidency of the National Theatre and then served as a member of various organizations and agencies. Exercises actively practiced law, mainly in the administrative courts and the Council of State, and has extensive advisory work.

He has participated in international seminars, conferences and lectures (Austria, Germany, Estonia, Uzbekistan, Albania, USA, Spain, Moldova) on political parties, local government, judicial function and constitutional justice, democracy issues and parliamentarism and his writings include the works : «Die Beziehungen zwischen Staat und Kirche in Griechenland» (1981), «The right of Resistance” (1986), “The appointment of Prime Minister” (1989), “The President of the Republic as” political system controller “” (1990) “The ‘strike’ lawyers’ (1995),” The interpretation of the Constitution “(1999),” Introduction to Constitutional Law »(2006),« Constitutional Law in Greece »(with Th. Fortsakis) (2009),« Fundamentals rights “(2012) and several studies and articles on constitutional law and constitutional theory,  mainly in Greek and foreign legal journals and in Greek and foreign collective works.
