Dr. Shahrokh Fardoust

Shahrokh Fardoust is a senior economic consultant, having worked with the World Bank as well as private international firms and foundations. From 2008 to 2011, he was Director, Strategy and Operations, in Development Economics Vice Presidency, at the World Bank, where he contributed to the research and policy priorities of the Chief Economist and Development Economics Vice Presidency, the G20’s development agenda, and review and quality assurance of the World Bank’s major policy papers and analytical flagships. Prior to this he served as Senior Adviser to Director-General, the Independent Evaluation Group of the World Bank Group, and from 2001 to 2006 he severed as Senior Economic Adviser to the Senior Vice President and Chief Economist of the World Bank. 

After joining the World Bank in1987, Mr. Fardoust served in a number of technical and operational assignments, including member of the core team for the World Development Report, Senior Country Economist for Egypt, Principal Country Economist for Pakistan, and the Lead Economist for India, where he led a team of experts responsible for the economic policy dialogue with states of India. Before coming to the Bank, he held positions at the U.N. Secretariat, New York, as a visiting lecturer in Economics at Wharton School and post-doctoral fellow at the Economics Department, the University of Pennsylvania, where he led the work on medium- and long-term global economic scenarios with Project LINK under Professor Lawrence R. Klein (Nobel Laureate), and at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Iran. Mr. Fardoust has a Ph.D in Economics, with specialization in International Trade and Finance, Development Economics and Econometrics, from the University of Pennsylvania.
